Espero spearheads transformation in clinical trials

Kat Austin,

Kimberly Tableman knows pharma. Before founding Espero Health, Tableman served as the head of digital clinical trials at major pharmaceutical companies, using her tech acumen to transform drug development processes.

OPPORTUNITY FOR INNOVATION

Tableman recognized the need to digitize and streamline processes in pharma, specifically within clinical trial protocol. This protocol historically involved a great deal of manual work and administrative overhead, including managing documentation in Word and PDF formats. This business problem badly needed an intelligent solution, and Kimberly Tableman was the right woman for the job.

THE RIGHT TOOL

Next, the company needed the right tool for the job. They needed to build fast with few resources. They also needed an enterprise-scalable solution capable of ensuring the security and privacy of sensitive data.

Espero chose Launchpad. As a sibling to the Pega Infinity platform, Launchpad ensured the same level of security and privacy as Pega—trusted by the world’s leading organizations to securely transform their business processes. As a low-code, out-of-the-box enterprise-scalable solution, Launchpad would also enable Espero to move quickly with little funding.

Launchpad was a huge part of our journey and a huge accelerator [..] We have been able to build a successful company, deliver a high-value solution without tons of money and […] resources.

EPROTOCOL REVOLUTIONIZES CLINICAL TRIAL PROTOCOL

Espero built eProtocol, an application that digitizes all the elements of the clinical trial protocol. 10 months after beginning the design process, Espero secured its first contract with a large pharmaceutical company. The solution has received overwhelmingly positive feedback, due to its super easy user experience and high adoption. Having successfully rolled out the app in record time, Tableman can focus on thought leadership activities and forging her position as a market leader in the digital clinical trial space.

FORGING THE FUTURE OF CLINICAL TRIALS

Now that the eProtocol solution is solidly established, the Espero team can also devote time to enhancing and evolving their product. Within a span of two days, Espero integrated GenAI tools into their application to assist the protocol process by determining objectives, key points, and criteria. These integrated tools can also generate informed consent forms for trial participants, translating scientific language into easily understood text.

The key takeaway from the Espero story is the following:
By using a low-code platform with out-of-the-box infrastructure, your team can focus on developing your IP into something truly transformative—enabling you to stand out as a leader in your space and forge the future of your industry.
